Based on the example of the “Waste your youth” movement happening in Berlin end of the 70ies beginning of the 80ies my collection translates a certain atmosphere into clothes. It is all about things, lifestyles or species that are extinct. An analysis of Darwin’s evolution theory helped me understanding that especially things that are differing from normality tend to drastically change in evolution or completely die out. Society excludes everything that they find not acceptable or scary but of course these things still can develop further. Actually Fashion does the same. It creates trends and due to sociological circumstances they evolve quickly and change drastically and in the end they are extinct. Something can be completely “It” today and a terrible “NoGo” tomorrow. “The world is a carnivore” picks up features like that and shows them in this certain evolution. By working with for example Leopard Skin prints and Neon colour I wanted to give the whole aspect of Bad Taste a new angle, translate it into something different, something weird, something scary. With my collection I wanted to show my vision on the topic but also capture clothes in one of the moments they are actually still evolving.
